New York Academics Personal Instruction Unlocks Their True Potential

AP Calculus

AP Calculus, both the AB and BC versions, are advanced classes that are intended to replace college classes. Since these courses deal with sophisticated mathematics, our tutors for these subjects are both accomplished mathematicians and experienced, successful educators. We have a track record of success with both struggling students who need support to understand the essentials of calculus and very gifted students who wish to go deeper than their classes allow them to.

AP Calculus AB covers differentiation and integration, as well as analysis of limits, asymptotes, and continuity. AP Calculus BC covers all of the topics in Calculus AB, plus other topics such as convergence tests for series, Taylor and/or Maclaurin series, L'Hôpital's rule, improper integrals, Euler's method, differential equations for logistic growth, and using partial fractions to integrate rational functions.

The format of the AP Calculus test is the same for the AB and BC versions. There are both multiple-choice and free-response questions. Calculator use is allowed for parts of the test, but not all of it. While the real key to doing well on the AP Calculus exam is to thoroughly understand the material, it is important to also understand the format of the test and relevant test-taking strategy. Of course, our tutors work with students in this area as necessary.
